Daphne Labs Inc. is a research and product company in Waterloo, Ontario. We design software, hardware and systems around one conviction: private, everyday computing should happen on your own machine — not in someone else's data centre.
The cloud has real uses, and the companies that earn their keep deserve it. But much of what passes for modern software is a subscription wrapped around your own data — uploaded, routed and rented back to you. Most of that can be solved locally, with your data staying where it is.
That conviction runs through everything: commercial products, security and data-communication research, and non-profit work that extends the same privacy to people usually asked to give it up. Revenue funds the lab — the hardware, the tests, the prototypes — so the work can reach the people and institutions who need it.
